I was feeling tall on Sunday so I took a drive out to the countryside

And I saw something that’s still hard to believe happen right before my eyes

I saw an apparition and she told me “Child, there is no need to fear

We saw a place where the people all were dancing, and laughter filled the room

There was no electricity but we were filled by the light of the moon

And the breezes blowing the tall trees in the mist gave away the diamonds in her smile

Her hair swayed as she danced along the water, with pirouettes and wings

In her eyes were the reflections of the stars, bound by Saturn’s icy rings

With a look so sweet and tender, she said “Tell me, have you ever been in love?”

And I replied “Not until now, is this the reason you descended from above?”

 

Then she said “Andale! Come along with me today

Let us exude, not to intrude, ‘cause we’ve a few more things to say

And I appreciate your lack to hesitate

So follow me along our merry little way”

 

“This will be our final destination,” she said with just a sigh

“This is where I have to leave you and allow you to continue on your ride

I hope you learned a thing or two about you, and before I fade away

I can leave you with one wish to keep your memories alive beyond today”

 

And within a very instant, I was driving back along the countryside

And I looked to my right shoulder, and my wish was granted right before my eyes

I saw my apparition and she told me, “There is still no need to fear

Johnny Gene was a front porch picker
